Local Interactions under Switching Costs

چکیده

We study the impact of switching costs on the long run outcome in 2 × 2 coordination games played in the circular city model of local interactions. For low levels of switching costs the predictions are in line with the previous literature and the risk dominant convention is the unique long run equilibrium. For intermediate levels of switching costs the set of long run equilibria still contains the risk dominant convention but may also contain conventions that are not risk dominant. For high levels of switching costs also non-monomorphic states will be included in the set of long run equilibria. Finally, we reconcile our result with a recent paper by Norman (2009) by considering the case of large interaction neighborhoods in large populations.

Switching Costs, Network Effects, and Buyer Behavior in IT Markets

This research examines how local network effects contribute to the costs of switching vendors, and how such effects differ according to the organization of the IT function. Our results indicate that the costs to ensure compatibility among local area network devices is a major source of switching costs in the markets for routers and switches, and that switching costs increase with the size of a ...

Sleep continuity and total sleep time are associated with task-switching and preparation in young and older adults.

Ageing is associated with changes in sleep and decline executive functions, such as task-switching and task preparation. Given that sleep affects executive function, age-related changes in executive function may be attributable to changes in sleep. The present study used a sleep detection device to examine whether or not wake time after sleep onset and total sleep time moderated age differences...

Dissociative global and local task-switching costs across younger adults, middle-aged adults, older adults, and very mild Alzheimer's disease individuals.

A task-switching paradigm was used to examine differences in attentional control across younger adults, middle-aged adults, healthy older adults, and individuals classified in the earliest detectable stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD). A large sample of participants (570) completed a switching task in which participants were cued to classify the letter (consonant/vowel) or number (odd/even) task...

Market Frictions: A Unified Model of Search and Switching Costs

Despite the existence of two vast literatures, very little is known about the potential di¤erences or interactions between search and switching costs. This paper demonstrates the bene…ts of examining the two frictions in unison. First, the paper shows how subtle distinctions between the two costs can provide important di¤erences in their e¤ects upon consumer behaviour and market prices. In many...
